Owen Roes Pick Up League Cup Points

Clogher 3-4 Owen Roes 4-10

Buoyed by their recent Championship victory Owen Roes seniors travelled to Clogher on Friday past in the Joe McGarrity league cup and collected two points that all but puts them into the knock out stages of the competition.

It was Clogher that struck first though as they bagged an early major. The O’Neills struck back however with a Declan McCrossan penalty. This was the prelude to an Owen Roes purple patch as Aidan McCrossan (0-2), Chris Kelly, Kevin O’Donnell and Stephen Boyle found range.

Clogher added a free, before minor player O’Donnell doubled his tally. The host tagged on another point, before Owen Roes keeper Dylan Early saw his careless pass intercepted and flicked to the net to leave the Leckpatrick side ahead by the minimum at the break.

However the North Tyrone side hit the ground running in the second period. Declan McCrossan pointed before sub Mark O’Neill found the net. Aidan McCrossan put over the bar, before good work Stephen Dooher allowed the corner forward in on goal for a third Owen Roes goal.

O’Donnell, and sub John Harper pointed either side of a Clogher score before the hosts added a late 1-1. Nonetheless Owen Roes were to have the final say and a Mark O’Neill 45 ended in the net off the poaching Aidan McCrossan.
